Through sponsorship from Goldline Curling we are hosting a new modified bonspiel over two Saturday game days (Jan 20 and Mar 9). Teams will play 2 -  games on each day in divisions broken out by ability. The bar will be open, there will be food (lunch and a plated dinner on both days) and entertainment, dancing, karaoke.

Come and connect with new friends and help build curling and queer sports in Hamilton! This is pilot event born out of conversations in our sister sporting group SCISA to help gauge interest in curling in Hamilton and help us start a queer league starting in Sept 2024.

FAQ:
Q: Do I need to know how to curl?

A: This event is open to new and experienced curlers. We will be hosting opportunities to learn to curl, included in the price, before the event on Jan 14th at 6 PM. We are welcoming more experienced players/teams as well and I will pair you up so you get good quality games but please come in the spirt of growing the sport with the intention of helping new folks as well!

Q: Does it take a while to get good at curling?

A:  Curling is team sport! Please don't be nervous if you have never played, that's the beauty of curling, throwing the rocks is only a small part of the game and you still get to be an awesome member of a team of 4 as you learn. You only throw 2 rocks per end, the other team mates throw the other 6 and you get to sweep and be involved in calling those shots too. 

Q: Can I register as a whole team?

A: Yes you can. If you want to register a team, please choose 4 tickets at checkout and fill out information for all your team members.

Q: Do I have to attend both days?

A: You do not have to attend both days. Tournments are 2 days alot of the times so we wanted to give good value for money but could not get two back-to-back days at the club this year so spread it out ver two. If you can only attend one, please choose the day you want to join in the checkout.

Q: What does the $100 include?

A: The $100 includes BOTH games days and the learn to curl on the 14th if you want to join (the learn to curl has limited spots so sign up early. Lunch and Dinner and all entertainment on both days is also included thanks to sponsorship from Goldline.

Q: What equipment do I need?

A: You only need a clean pair of shoes and comfy clothes. Any required equipment will be provided. Curling shoes and brooms can be purchased in the future if you like the sport and want to continue playing! As this is a sport on the ice it can be slippery and falls do happen. People can and do wear helmets to protect their head.
